The Simplicities of Our Crazy Life.......

You know how sometimes, when you sit down to think about what you want to write in your blog, you almost feel like you have nothing noteworthy to share? That is exactly where I am right now. I mean have done tons of things and we are always busy and I have heard stories from my kiddos that would have you roaring with laughter but today is one of those days when I sit here at the computer thinking, I have no idea what to write about today. So I will give you an overview of recent happenings and if it looks to long, you can skip to a part that looks more interesting, how does that sound?

1. Last night at AWANAS one of the teachers from Abby Jo's school came up to me and said, I have the funniest story to tell you about your daughter. So I thought "oh great, here comes more bad news" (In case you aren't aware of it, Abby Jo has been sent to the principal's office once this year already because her friend Caden was in line to go to recess and she wanted to stand in front of him by her other friend Macy, when Caden said that she could not cut in front of him, she attempted to pull down his jeans so that when he bent over to pull them up, she could sneak in front of him. Thank you God for putting a belt on Caden that day! When asked by her teacher why she did this, she looked at her completely shocked that she even had to ask and told her "because I wanted to????" As if she didn't know the answer to the question....yeah she's great!) So anyways, here I am talking to the teacher who tells me that she was at the table directly behind Abby Jo's seat and was bent over a child helping him with a paper when all of a sudden she feels one little hand on each butt cheek and after remembering to continue breathing she realizes that Abby Jo is sitting in her seat, facing her table, with her hands put back behind her and one hand on each side of the teacher's bottom. Yeah, that is when she turned around, nicely told Abby Jo to get busy on her paper and then excused herself for a second so she could go out in the hallway to laugh about it. Abby and I had a serious discussion about this yesterday evening and we have decided that it would be best from here on out to keep our hands and feet to ourselves before Mommy's hands end up spanking Abby Jo's bottom!!! She told me last night that she was just doing it to make everyone else at the table laugh and that she didn't mean to really touch her butt but she now understands that laughing about these things is one thing, but getting into trouble for them is quite another.

2. Alissa has missing glasses, we can NOT find her newest pair of glasses and this isn't new news, she has not had them now for about 6 months. One of the lenses had fallen out of them and her father put them up for what was supposed to be the weekend until he could get around to fixing them. Well he put them up so well that her glasses are now officially missing. Her old ones sit on her face completely crooked, so guess where I get to go next weekend, yep that's right, back to the eye doctor for more glasses.

3. My basement is in the process of being redone, in this process, we are waiting on some supplies which means that some of the rooms have the wood walls but no sheet rock, my daughters have since decided that it is the perfect setting for playing house, so when you walk into the basement you now see three little apartments all fully furnished with everything from stereo's to fake trees to crock pots and cooking utensils. They are having a ball down there and even though I dread having to help clean up that mess, I have really enjoyed watching each one of them let their creativity flow while they design their little dream houses.

4. Last weekend Michael and I lived it up like a couple with no kids....we went out Friday and Saturday night which may not sound like a big deal to all of you but it is something that NEVER happens at our house! Friday night we met up with a bunch of friends at Washington Street and had supper for Travis Sawyer's birthday and then followed up with a night singing karaoke at the station. We had a great time. Then on Saturday, we went out with a different group of friends for our friend Lee's birthday and then back to the station for more karaoke performances. It was another good night and it was fun watching everyone sing and have a good time. By Sunday night though it all had hit me and after realizing that I am now 31 and not 20, I remembered why I don't go out both nights on the weekends anymore!

5. We finished up the last of 6 family Christmas Dinners on Sunday afternoon. We had a great time with my dad's side of the family and I was really glad that they had waited until mid January to hold the dinner since we just have so many places to be! We always love seeing our family no matter what side it is on so it was nice to get a chance to make it to all of the dinners this year.

6. For those of you following Zach's recovery, he had another surgery yesterday where they cut out the shape of his ear so it will now flap like all of yours and mine do. He texted me on the way home from the hospital and said that the surgery went well and that we would see him in a few days. I would love to go down to my mom's and see him but worry about the kids and if they would be carrying anything that is catchable by Uncle Zach's so I will just wait and make sure he is healthy and so are they before getting to see him. Hopefully though, I can see him Sunday afternoon for a little while and see what amazing things those Dr.s were able to do.

7. Last but not least, I got a new dog. I don't know how many of you know it but our last little dog Rosco was stolen we believe. We had let him out to play this fall and when it came time for him to come in, he just wasn't anywhere to be found. He loved going up to the school with the kids so we checked everywhere and after not being able to find him, figured he was off chasing something and would be back the next morning. After about three weeks of thinking that this had to be the case, (yes I know total denial but I hated admitting that he wouldn't be back) we decided that he must have been taken. He was the sweetest little dog and we miss him very very much but obviously someone else must have wanted him. We have checked ditches between Trenton and Milan countless times and to no avail so it only makes sense that someone had to have taken him or else we would have found him somewhere. But on the upside I got a new puppy. Her name is Sissy and she is a Boston Terrier. She is spoiled rotten already with her little pink dress and pink toenails and we all just love her dearly. It has helped very much to fill the void that Rosco left but we haven't forgotten him either. The other night Abby Jo came in to the kitchen where I was cleaning up supper mess and said to me very teary eyed, "I sure do miss Rosco and Mommy wouldn't he have loved Sissy? I bet they would have played together all of the time." Of course this was right before the tears fell....yep it broke my heart too!

Well that's pretty much it. It's always eventful and always fun at our house and there is never a lack of something fun or funny going on. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed reliving it all. So until next time....

You write just like you talk...maybe even better. You should consider writing a book. I love to read your blogs. Keep it up. Love, Aunt Kris

I started reading thinking you weren't going to have anything to write about, but it sounds like even when you feel like you don't, you have a lot to talk about. I am sure the kids give you lots of great stories. I have to say when reading about Rosco, I got a little sad. I kept Rosco a few times for Alisha and I loved that little guy. Hope whoever has him is treating him well.
